A road biking trip through the stunning backroads of Tuscany. Starting off in the classic renaissance city of Florence, you speed through the wine paradise of Chianti, take in the hill-top masterpieces of San Gimignano and Siena before finishing up in Montepulciano. The trip is a combination of world-class cycling, food, and wine that will bring tears of joy to your eye, rolling green scenery and towns built so beautifully that they almost defy belief. The full trip is 170k, averaging about 35k per day with the flexibility to do more or less depending on your mood. The terrain is rolling hills with some challenging sections, but nothing too extreme. You will be cycling on quiet backroads, with very little traffic, and the occasional gravel path. The tour is fully supported with a van to carry your luggage and provide assistance if needed. You will be staying in a mix of 2 and 3 star hotels, with the occasional agriturismo or B&B. The tour is self-guided, with detailed route notes and maps provided. You will be provided with a GPS device to help you navigate the route. The tour is available from April to October, with departures every Sunday. The tour is suitable for intermediate to advanced cyclists, with a good level of fitness required. The tour is available as a 7 or 8 day option, with the 8 day option including an extra day in Montepulciano to explore the town and surrounding area. The tour is available as a self-guided or guided option, with the guided option including a local guide to show you the best routes and provide local knowledge. The tour is available as a private group option, with a minimum of 4 people required. The tour is available as a custom option, with the ability to tailor the tour to your specific requirements.
