Japanese Grip Sewing Scissors “Kenshi” are made by hand forging from scratch, precisely crafted from a single piece of solid steel. These scissors are designed to last for decades, allowing you to pass them onto your grandchildren. The secret of Japanese sewing scissors is in the back of the blades, where perfectly crafting the back blades is crucial in giving users a clean cut without damaging the fabric. These are traditional Japanese grip scissors, ideal for hand sewing and perfect for precise work in snipping threads on quilts and embroidery projects. They are handcrafted by Kenshi Terazaki, one of the only two craftsmen in the world who have mastered this method. There are four variations: Standard A – Claw, suitable for general sewing; Standard B – Longer Blades, with blades a little longer than the Claw due to regional preferences; Pointy, with thinner tips ideal for intricate work; and Katamaru, featuring one blade tip round and the other pointy, preferred for working with delicate fabrics like silk. The round bottom blade helps to prevent damaging the fabric accidentally.
