Three hundred years. That's how long the Tesch family has been making wine in Langenlonsheim, on the Nahe river in Germany's smallest wine region. Martin Tesch took over from his father in 1999, and the winery is now recognized as one of the top producers in Germany. The winemaking philosophy is simple: 100% Riesling, 100% single vineyards, and 100% dry. The wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and are neither filtered nor fined. The wines are aged in large, neutral oak barrels for up to 18 months. The wines are bottled with minimal sulfur. The wines are made in tiny quantities and are only released when Martin feels they are ready to drink. The Nahe will warm up just fine in your white wine stem. Drink now through 2035. Perfect with grilled halibut smeared with pesto, dungeness crab frisée salad with citrus, or on a languorous Saturday afternoon pool day.
